Celebrating the First Canadian Teacher

Thursday our school celebrated the Franco-Canadian feast day of Sainte Marguerite Bourgeoys. It actually takes place on November 25th, but we wanted to celebrate here at EOLRS. We learned that Sainte Marguerite was the first teacher in Canada and it’s thanks to her that we have schools and the opportunity to learn many wonderful things. We also learned that Sainte Marguerite would make homemade taffy to give to her students at school so they’d feel happy about being there. We made some taffy for our students today to spread that joy as well. A big thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the taffy and hand it out to all the classes!
